Football loving Nigerians may not get to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Kenya today, because of rights issues.
Officials of NTA revealed to KickOffNigeria, that the right holders are demanding for as much as €400,000 broadcast fee, before they can be allowed to transmit the crucial match.
“It is outrageous! That is an obscene amount of money for just two hours of live transmission and at very short notice,” the NTA official said.
In what might offer anxious fans slim hope, he added that the network was still negotiating to try and bring down the fee.
“If we can get it down, and bring in other stations like AIT, and so on, we may still be able to bring the game to Nigerians,” he said.
The game is scheduled to kick off by 2pm in Nairobi.
