A traditional ruler of Zandam in Katsina State, Babangida Lawal, has been kidnapped by armed bandits in Jibia Local Government area of the state.
The incident, which happened last night, also saw a popular businessman in the council, Murtala Rabe, whisked away by the kidnappers.
An eyewitness, who spoke under anonymity, told newsmen on Monday the bandits stormed Zandam community in the wee hours of Sunday, broke into the respective homes the community influencers and whisked them away.
“Some of us who tried to rescue them were severely injured in the process. No ransom has so far been placed on them by the abductors,” the eyewitness said.
It was gathered that in the next neighbouring village of Gurbi Magarya, some cows were rustled away by the bandits.
Confirming the incident, Spokesman of Katsina state Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, told journalists: “We are aware of the kidnap, police are making effort to rescue them.”
