Avram Grant wants to win 2017 AFCON with Ghana

Ghana coach, Avram Grant, has rubbished speculations about his future and insists he wants to win next year’s Africa Cup of Nations with the Black Stars.

The Israeli tactician has been criticized roundly, following a string of bad results in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series.

Ghana lost 2-0 to Egypt last weekend, a result which leaves their hopes of qualifying for the tournament in Russia in serious danger.

The country’s FA are set to discuss Grant’s future in their next executive meeting, but the former Chelsea manager says he has his eyes on the 2017 AFCON.

“Yes, we have the African Cup. Our target is very clear. I always want to finish my contract. Our contract is the African Cup that was two years and three months,” Grant told Metro TV.

”I want to win the African Cup. It will not be easy – there’re other good teams but this is possible and I want to do it.

”In football you cannot think beyond two, three months. Two, three months too much. Let’s do what we need to do at the African Cup and then we think about what’s next.”

Ghana will face Egypt, Uganda and Mali in the group stage of the 2017 AFCON.
