Former Chelsea and Portsmouth boss, Avram Grant, has been announced as the new coach of Ghana.
The Israeli has penned a 27-month deal and will take over Maxwell Konadu, who has been acting as caretaker coach since Kwesi Appiah left in September this year.
Grant will lead the Black Stars to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and the Ghana Football Federation has given the 59-year-old a target of “doing well” at the tournament, considering he has six weeks to prepare the team.
There was also concern as to his Grant’s nationality, could be a problem for him when trying to access some North African countries, but GFA’s president Kwesi Nyantekyie told BBC Sport: “The holder of an Israeli passport will not only be denied entry into North African countries, he will be denied into some Arab countries.
“He has brought an alternative way of dealing with it. There is a satisfactory arrangement to arrest his threat. Very soon, in a matter of months, we should clear that.”
