Auto mechanic docked for N110,000 fraud in Ogun

A man, Waheed Taoheeb, who allegedly collected N110, 000 on the pretext of repairing a man’s car, was on Friday charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

The 30-year-old, who lives at No. 26, Oresanowo St., Sango-Ota, is standing trial on a charge of obtaining money under false pretences.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Mustapha Abdulkareem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 23 at noon at the Bell Secondary School area in Ota.

He said the accused collected the money with a promise to repair the car belonging to the complainant, Vivian Feyishara.

According to him, the accused failed to fulfill his part of the agreement after collecting the money.

The offence contravened Section 421 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Abimbola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She said the surety must be working and residing within the court’s jurisdiction.

In addition, Abimbola said the surety should produce one year tax clearance and swear to an affidavit of means as part of the bail conditions.

She adjourned the case to Nov.13 for hearing. (NAN)
