The Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, says the sudden death of Prince Abubakar Audu, was a major setback to the democratic process being experienced in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, yesterday.
Okowa noted that Audu will be missed for his flamboyancy and never-say-die spirit style of politics, adding that his life was an example of belief in fair democratic contest.
“His doggedness is attested to by the number of times he offered to serve his state after his second coming as the second Executive Governor in 2003. Although he did not win on these other occasions, his faith in democratic process never waned until his death,” Okowa said.
The governor further urged his party and followers to bear Audu’s loss with calmness as his contributions to the growth and stability of Kogi state and the nation were too evident to be diminished by his demise.
