The immediate past Senate President, Chief David Mark has described the untimely death of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu as a devastating blow to the political class.
Senator Mark, in a condolence message signed by his Media Assistant, Paul Mumeh, to the government and people of Kogi State, lamented the exit of Prince Audu from the political scene at a time when his services were most needed by his people.
According to him, “Prince Audu was a great man. He stood to be counted when it mattered. He loved his people and his people loved in more than equal proportion.
“He identified and offered himself to serve his people until his last breadth.
“In Prince Audu, the people of Kogi lost a jewel. Nigeria lost one of her best and finest politician. We shall miss his patriotic and robust contributions to nation building.”
Senator Mark added that, “No matter how much you loved or hated Audu, the fact cannot be diminished that he was an unrepentant democrat who believed in the sanctity of the ballot box and that sovereignty belongs to the people.”
He noted that the people of Kogi state owe Prince Audu a lot of gratitude for laying a solid foundation for the state.
He urged the Kogi state government to immortalise Prince Audu by upholding his legacy of selfless service, unwavering commitment, passion to serve, resilience and hard work.
He told the people, especially the immediate family to take solace in the fact that late Audu left his positive and indelible footprint on the sand of time.
