Following attack by thugs on Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and others at a political gathering of stakeholders and leaders of the All Progressive Congress in Kaduna, the state government has warned that it will not tolerate the use of violence as a political instrument.

The government in a statement issued by governor El-Rufai’s spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, condemned in strong terms the reported disruption of a political meeting in Kaduna by thugs.

The statement disclosed that security agencies have been directed to investigate and prosecute any one found complicit.

It observed that, “Kaduna State government received reports of an act of lawlessness and political thuggery during a political meeting at the instance of a serving lawmaker and associates.

“The government of Kaduna State condemned in strong terms, this unfortunate which is undemocratic and contrary to democratic principles.

“Security agencies have been directed to investigate the incidence and take necessary action to prosecute anyone indicted.”

Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi on Sunday in Kaduna escaped being killed by thugs during a political gathering of stakeholders and leaders of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in Kaduna State.

The thugs chanting, ‘Kaduna sai Uba Sani, Kaduna sai El-Rufai in 2019’, stormed the venue of the meeting with dangerous weapons and throwing stones on those at the meeting, injuring many.
