As reactions continue to trail the visit of the Turakin Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, the Second Vice President of Aladja Community Council, Mr. Lucky Abeyi has stated that the visit to the institution was part of Atiku’s preparation for 2019 presidential ambition.

Abeyi made the declaration in a chat with DAILY POST on Wednesday.

Abeyi, who is a member of a pressure group in the South-South under the aegies of Fully and Truly Atikulated, called on politicians to see Atiku as a man who can lead the country.

He said: “As a person, the honour is befitting for the person of Atiku. You know he was there to bag a degree. He is a politician and I am a politician. His visit is a preparation for 2019. Politicians should support and see him as man who can lead the country.”

Atiku Abubabar at FUPRE bagged a Doctor of Science Degree.

The former VP arrived the institution in company of Chief Ayirimi Emami, a strong loyalist of James Ibori, the Bishop of Abuja Archdiocese of the Catholic Church, His Eminence Cardinal John Olufemi Onaiyekan, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM. Emmanuel Sideso Abe I, the President General of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU World-Wide, Olorogun Moses Taiga and Oil Magnate, Sir. Daniel Chukwu Edozie.

The romance between Atiku and Ibori is believed to be connected with the 2019 presidential election.

It would be recalled that Alhaji Atiku and Chief Ibori with the backing of other governors confronted former President Olusegun Obasanjo to step down for him (Turakin) to pick the presidential ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Obasanjo had promised that if he is allowed to run for second tenure, he would back Atiku to become President of Nigeria in 2007.

Atiku agreed but with months to the expiration of Obasanjo’s tenure, the issue of third term agenda surfaced and Atiku and governors loyal to him vehemently opposed it.
