Rotimi Abiru, Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly, has maintained that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s defection back to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, can’t stop the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
Abiru predicated his claim on the fact that the Waziri of Adamawa contributed to the problems currently plaguing Nigeria.
The lawmaker representing Shomolu constituency II, noted that the achievements of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, would give it overwhelming victory during the next year general election.
Describing Abubakar as a big fish,” the lawmaker stressed that his influence would not save him if he eventually gets PDP ticket to contest against Buhari in 2019.
Speaking in Lagos, Abiru said, “Atiku’s defection to PDP is not a threat to APC in 2019 but it depends on the way you look at it.
“There is no doubt that Atiku is a big fish. But don’t forget that he was a member of the former ruling party PDP and the problems plaguing Nigeria were orchestrated by the former ruling party.
“It is very clear to me that Atiku is pursuing an agenda and he goes to any platform he feels he could realise his ambition. I don’t think Nigerians are so forgetful because part of the problems plaguing Nigeria were orchestrated by the past government under which Atiku served as vice president.”
