Barcelona’s hopes of winning their 5th trophy of 2015, is all but gone after they were hammered 4-0 by Athletic Bilbao, in the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana on Friday night.
The Champions League winners’ defensive frailties were obvious once again and Aritz Aduriz scored a second-half hat-trick, to help his side record a famous victory.
Earlier this week, Luis Enrique’s men threw away a three-goal lead against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup and required a 115th minute goal from Pedro to win the Cup.
Mikel San Jose opened the scoring with a cracker from about 50 yards out and although Pedro hit the bar, it was the hosts who scored again, to take a big advantage into the second leg next Monday at the Nou Camp.
