The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, UniAbuja branch, on Thursday declared that there was ‘no going back’ on the ongoing strike.
Chairman of the branch, Dr Ben Ugheoke, on Thursday in Abuja told newsmen that the union had monitored activities at the campus and noticed compliance.
“The NEC of ASUU held its meeting on August 12 and came up with the resolution that all branches proceed on a nationwide total comprehensive indefinite strike to press for all the issues that have been on the table,” he said.
“In that meeting, there were also some decisions that were reached; for instance, we were given a window between Monday and Wednesday for all branches to domesticate the strike.
“We, UniAbuja-ASUU, held a congress on Wednesday to comply with the directive of NEC; the declared strike is total, comprehensive and indefinite.
“We have gone on monitoring at the two campuses and everybody is complying; we have our internal disciplinary measure that would be activated against any erring member.”
He warned that no member of the union should engage in any form of teaching, or statutory meeting – departmental/faculty board, Senate, congregation or council.
Ugheoke also members are not expected to conduct or supervise any examinations whatsoever; engage in the supervision of project or thesis at any level.
He added that nobody should force any member of the union to teach, supervise any project or thesis at any level or attend meetings of any guise.
