ASUU strike: LASU lecturers resume work

Following the directive of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), lecturers at the Lagos State University (LASU) returned to classes on Wednesday.

Dr. Isaac Oyewunmi, the chairman of LASU’s chapter of ASUU, told newsmen in Lagos that: “We have all resumed today (Wednesday) as directed by the national body because the one week strike elapsed on Tuesday by 11.59pm.”

Oyewunmi stated that academic activities will continue, except a contrary directive comes from ASUU.

He also revealed that negotiations will continue between the union and the Federal Government, following the expiration of the warning strike.

“It is either the government is ready to meet our demands or face our next line of action as there is no going back on our demands,” he said.

ASUU declared a one-week warning strike which began on November 16, to press home their demands from the Federal Government.

They are demanding for the implementation of the 2009 agreement and the exclusion of universities from the Single Treasury Account (TSA).
