Aston Villa are looking to take Odion Ighalo from Watford, as Christian Benteke closes in on a transfer to Liverpool.

The Reds have reportedly agreed the structure of payments with Villa, after activating the Belgian striker’s £32.5million release clause.

Tim Sherwood is now looking for players that will replace Benteke and Villa have been linked with Ighalo and Tottenham’s Emmanue Adebayor.

However, Ighalo is waiting for a formal bid, but has refused to confirm if he will be open to a move.

“Yes I’m aware of the reports linking me but there’s no formal bid,” the Super Eagels player told completesportsnigeria.com exclusively.

“Only God knows if I’d move.”

Ighao has netted six times so far for the Hornets in pre-season matches.
