A bloody but unsuccessful assassination attempt has allegedly been made on the Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Chief Dr. Remember P N Ogbe at his residence in Amassoma, leaving two Police Officers attached to him from the Amassoma Division dead.
DAILY POST gathered that the unidentified gunmen who invaded the premises of the Chairman at about 8:55 pm on Thursday 30/7/15 made frantic effort to shoot directly at the chairman but were resisted by the gallant Police Officers who lost their lives in the process of the gun duel which lasted for over 30 minutes.
Angered by their inability to sniff life out of Chief Ogbe, the assassins resorted to damaging property belonging to the chairman before speeding off with an unregistered Toyota Jeep.
Chief Ogbe who seem visibly unruffled urged Law Enforcement Agencies to immediately swing into action to speedily investigate the unprovoked and unwarranted attack by the unidentified hoodlums.
The two Police Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty have since been deposited at the Okolobiri Mortuary.
