Real Madrid midfielder, Marco Asensio, has admitted he “can’t imagine playing without Cristiano Ronaldo”, as the Portugal captain is again linked with a move away.
Asensio told Marca, in an interview, “I can’t imagine playing without him. Ronaldo has been, is and will be very important for us.
“Real Madrid and him always have to go together.”
It has been suggested that Asensio could be the man to fill the void for Madrid once Ronaldo leaves, but the Spaniard is not willing to be drawn on whether he could replace the 33-year-old.
“We’re different players. I like to drop a little to receive the ball and have more contact with it, being less of a finisher.
“Everyone evolves as a footballer through learning and we’ll see in the future what position I play,” he added.
Asensio also spoke on Zinedine Zidane’s resignation. The Frenchman stepped down days after winning his third consecutive Champions League title with the club.
“The Zidane exit took us all a little by surprise, but my experience with him has been really good.
“He has trusted me a lot and we have a really good relationship. From the start, I had things clear in my mind knowing what I was coming to. I have worked hard to have these opportunities and he gave me them,” he said.
