Asari Dokubo is endangering Nigeria’s security – CNPP

Ex-militant leader, Asari Dokubo has received fresh bashing over his recent comments regarding the 2015 presidency.

Dokubo was quoted recently to have said that Nigeria would boil if President Jonathan was not returned in 2015 elections.

In a reaction on Tuesday, the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties,CNPP,urged President Goodluck Jonathan to as a matter of urgency call him to order.

The CNPP said their call was necessary as the ex-militant had recklessly endangered national security.

In a statement made available to journalists in Enugu and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu, CNPP explained that the call was for the interest of the country, its fledgling democracy and President Jonathan himself.

“For we are yet to locate how President Jonathan can secure the kind of votes he secured in 2011 elections; if people like Alhaji Asari Dokubo are allowed to stridently hit the dangerous ethnic drum of war.

“Is Alhaji Asari Dokubo aware that there are Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas and other ethnic nationalities who root for his brother? Or how can the votes of only Ijaw ethnic nationality in a multi-ethnic nationality of ours make anybody a president?”, the group had questioned.

According to the statement, Alhaji Asari Dokubo and “his ethnic jingoist cohorts” must be reminded that in all liberal democracies, the core ingredient of election is referendum on the candidates;, adding that ” therefore the 2015 presidential election shall be a referendum on President Jonathan’s performance.

“On this score, President Jonathan has been 3 years on the throne – 6 May 2010 – 6 May 2013 with unprecedented Oil Revenue, Excess Crude Account, annual trillions from Taxation and Customs Duty- may we ask Alhaji Asari Dokubo – what is the score-card of President Jonathan in the Niger Delta? Is it the completion East-West Road? Is it a new refinery or new Gas Powered Plant in the Niger Delta? Is it new industries? Or is the new federal university at Otuoke or enrichment of a few? Is that what the good people of Niger Delta bargained for?

“What is the score-card of Jonathan in the other regions –SE, SW, NC, NE and NW? Is it the patch-up of the federal roads or sale of electricity assets or 20 kilometer per hour Kano-Lagos Rail System what the good people of Nigeria got as Fresh Air? Or can we say that Alhaji Asari Dokubo is shouting as a beneficiary of the monumental corruption which is the trade mark of Jonathan administration?” CNPP called on President Jonathan to defend, protect and preserve the Constitution, noting that those who engaged in treasonable felony or deliberately subvert the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be prosecuted forthwith.
