Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has explained why he dropped Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Alex Iwobi in their Premier League clash with Wolves on Sunday.
Iwobi made a difference when he came off the bench in the Gunners’ last Premier League outing against Liverpool last week.
He set up Alexandre Lacazette’s late equaliser in the game.
Despite playing all 90 minutes in midweek against Sporting in the Europa League, Emery is confident Iwobi can have a big effect in Sunday’s match.
Asked about bringing in Iwobi for Mkhitaryan, Emery told Sky Sports, “Everybody they need to be okay for playing and help us and I think the change I made is only because they are with the performance.
“But also can start, can be on the bench, and after go inside and help us and today is starting in the first XI it’s Iwobi.”
Speaking about Danny Welbeck who has been ruled out for the rest of the season, he added, “For us every player is important and when they are playing they have the possibility also one red card, one yellow card, one injury, big or small injury, but it’s all work.
“And then every player they want today to find a victory and dedicate if we can to him.”
