Former Premier League star, Paul Merson has predicted Arsenal to beat Tottenham Hotspur comfortably when both teams clash this weekend in the Premier League fixture at Emirates Stadium.
Merson believes Unai Emery’s side will ‘rip’ Spurs to shreds on Sunday evening.
Arsenal head to the game after losing 3-1 to Liverpool in their last Premier League encounter, while Tottenham were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate, Merson was asked to give his prediction for the Premier League clash and he backed the Gunners to defeat Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“I think Arsenal will win the game quite comfortably, 4-1,” Merson said, adding that “I think they will rip Tottenham to shreds.
“I think Spurs are struggling at the moment and if Arsenal gets going then they could score a few.
“The Man City game has covered over the cracks at Spurs I think.
“I think there is more to it than meets the eye at the moment with regards to Vertonghen,” Merson added.
“I don’t think he would play against Arsenal anyway because of Davinson Sanchez and his pace.
“Vertonghen won’t be able to live with (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang’s pace so he will play Sanchez anyway.”
