Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has revealed that Mesut Ozil’s immune system is “a bit in trouble”, after the German playmaker was again bedridden with illness this week.
Ozil will not be available for the Gunners’ Europa League fixture against Ostersunds on Thursday, after he spent Monday and Tuesday in bed.
It is the fourth time in little over a year that Ozil would be sick.
He missed four games due to illness in the 2016/2017 season, as well as matches against Huddersfield Town and Burnley in November.
Asked why the German gets sick so often, Wenger said: “Ozil’s immune system is a bit in trouble at the moment and I don’t know why. I hope we can improve that medically.”
Ozil was back in full training on Wednesday and Wenger is optimistic he will recover to play Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final this Sunday.
“He should be OK for Sunday,” Wenger said.
