Arsenal vs Liverpool: What I told my players about Allisson – Emery

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has hinted that he will instruct his players to target Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson during Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Liverpool have been unbeaten since the start of the season and currently top the table, leveling with champions, Manchester City, on points.

Alisson has played vital roles; both between the posts and with his outstanding distribution which triggers many of his side’s dangerous counter-attacks.

“We need to stop them doing their jobs in the 90 minutes,” Metro UK quoted Emery at his pre-match press conference.

“They have individual players and also are a collective. They are developing moves with the goalkeeper because they build up through Alisson, the centre-backs and the midfield players.

“They can progress up the pitch with a lot of quality starting with Alisson.

“We need a big match in the individual duels against them and also tactically we need to be together and play with our identity and style that we need to impose on them.

“It’s difficult for 90 minutes but in moments we need to impose our ideas in a duel of 90 minutes.”

Arsenal will head to Saturday’s fixture with full confidence, having recorded an 11-game winning run which came to a halt following last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

The Gunners have recovered from back-to-back defeats against Man City and Chelsea and Emery hopes his side has learned from those losses.

“These two matches are so far and also so close,” he added.

“Tomorrow is similar because Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are in front of us in the table and now we want to compete against them and this test is very important but I trust in our players. I trust in our way.

“The result tomorrow is important but first I want to show everyone our best mentality in the game.

“I know if we have a very big mentality in the game and a big performance and also some luck we can win.”
