Arsenal to spend £75m on 3 new signings before Arteta takes over

Arsenal are pressing forward on transfers before appointing Manchester City assistant coach, Mikel Arteta, as the club’s new manager since the exit of ex-Gunners coach, Arsene Wenger.

The Emirates club are ready to spend £75 million on three new signings, even before the Spaniard is officially appointed as coach.

The Sun UK reports that Arsenal’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat is pushing on with transfer negotiations and is aiming for his three deals to be concluded by June 1.

According to the British newspaper, Arsenal are on the verge of completing a £15million move for Borussia Dortmund’s centre-back, Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The Greek international is available for a cheaper fee as he has just one year remaining on his contract with the German club.

Papastathopoulos had told his Bundesliga club that he will not renew once his contract expires.

The North London club is also looking for a long-term replacement for goalkeeper, Petr Cech, and has identified Bayer Leverkusen’s shot-stopper, Bernd Leno.

Leo is said to be keen on a move to the Emirates outfit.

The Gunners are prepared to spend £25m for the 26-year-old.

The North London club are also far down the line in talks for Freiburg’s central defender, Caglar Soyuncu, with The Sun claiming that Manchester City and Roma have been ‘left trailing’ by the speed of Mislintat’s negotiations.

Soyuncu is set to cost Arsenal £35m.
