Arsenal are convinced they will complete an £11million transfer for Petr Cech by the end of next week.
The Czechs stopper is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, but the 33-year-old wants to remain in London.
Although, Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, is not too keen to allow the goalkeeper join a rival club, it is understood that owner, Roman Abramovich will sanction the move.
The Gunners have already made a formal enquiry, but talks are expected to accelerate in the coming days.
Cech is desperate to leave Chelsea, as he spent most of last season on the bench, with Thibaut Courtois coming back from his loan spell to claim the number one jersey.
If he makes the move to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger will also have a tough decision to make, as to which of his goalkeepers he will keep. Wojciech Szczesny was benched after his horror show at Southampton on January 1, while Daniel Ospina finished the season as number one. However, the Pole was selected for the FA Cup final, which Arsenal won 4-0.
