Arsenal to announce signing of Cech’s replacement on Tuesday, Torreira set for medicals

Arsenal will announce the signing of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno on Tuesday, according to reports in Germany.

SportBILD claims that Leno will be presented as a Gunners player, having agreed terms on a five-year contract.

New Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has been keen to land the 26-year-old, as he was not too impressed by Petr Cech’s performances in the latter months of Arsene Wenger’s reign.

Second-choice goalkeeper, David Ospina, will also be allowed to leave.

Leno has six caps for Germany, but wasn’t picked for the 2018 World Cup.

He leaves Leverkusen after seven years and will become Emery’s second signing for the first team, after the addition of experienced full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have sent a delegation to Russia, to conduct medicals for another target, Lucas Torreira.

It is believed a deal around £22million has been struck between the Premier League club and Sampdoria, with a few final details left to wrap it up.
