Arsenal’s latest £40,000,001 offer for Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez, means that the Gunners will be given permission to open talks with the unsettled striker.
The Anfield club are not ready to part with the Uruguay international and had already rejected Arsenal’s opening bid of £30m plus £5m in add-ons. However, Arsene Wenger is eager to get his man and has now sent in an improved bid, which activates a complicated clause in Suarez’s contract.
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has informed his Liverpool counterpart Ian Ayre, that they are willing to pay the £40m required, which will give them legal grounds to open discussions with the 26-year-old.
Liverpool are adamant that it is not a release clause and have also rejected the improved offer, while his agents think this means their client can leave. However, Anfield officials are expected to notify Suarez about Arsenal’s new bid and it will be up to the striker if he wants the move to the Emirates.
