Arsenal remain confident over Vardy deal

Arsenal are optimistic that they will sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City this summer.

The Gunners have already triggered a release clause in the England striker’s current deal and reportedly agreed personal terms. But the Premier League champions are desperate to hold onto to Vardy, who scored 24 times last season.

Leicester have tabled a new contract for the 29-year-old and are persuading him to stay at least one more year.

Vardy has flown out with his England team-mates ahead of Euro 2016 on Monday morning, but a source close to Arsenal insists they have gotten their man.

Manager Arsene Wenger has already tied up a deal for midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer, but is expected to make three more signings.
