Lukas Podolski bagged a brace, while fellow striker partner Olivier Giroud also scored, as Arsenal beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage.
It was the Frenchman who opened scoring, latching onto Ramsey’s mishit effort in the 14th minute, to produce a predator’s finish. The home team threatened briefly, with Adel Taarabt and John Arne Riise causing Arsenal’s defence problems. In the 41st minute however, Podolski pounced on a rebound to slam in the Gunners’ second of the match.
Martin Jol’s men came out fighting in the second half, but once again, Podolski found space on the left and squeezed his shot past David Stockdale in goal. The third goal gave Arsenal some breathing space and although Darren Bent scored on his debut, Arsene Wenger’s men saw the match through, to record their first win of the season.
