Arsenal ready to offer Wenger new deal to tie him down until 2019

Arsenal are preparing a new contract for manager Arsene Wenger, which will see him stay at the Emirates until 2019.

Senior officials at the club are ready to hand the Frenchman a two-year extension to his current deal, which runs out next season.

Wenger, who has already spent 20 years at the club, is aware of the Gunners’ plan to keep him at the club into his 23rd anniversary.

Negotiations will be opened at the end of the season, as the club’s hierarchy would not want the coach and his players to be distracted by speculations.

Arsenal climbed to the top of the table on Saturday, after a gruelling 2-1 victory over Everton.
