Arsenal lodge appeal over Giroud’s red card

Arsenal have confirmed that they an appeal has been sent to the FA over Olivier Giroud’s sending off against Fulham.

The French striker was sent off in the last minutes of the 1-0 victory, after the referee adjudged his challenge on Phillipe Senderos to be dangerous.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Arsenal Football Club have lodged an appeal to the Football Association for the wrongful dismissal of Olivier Giroud during the Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

“An FA regulatory commission will hear the claim and make a verdict on Tuesday afternoon.”
