Arsenal hammer Aston Villa to retain FA Cup

Arsenal have made history, after winning their 12th FA Cup title, with a comprehensive 4-0 drubbing of Aston Villa at Wembley.

The Gunners, who won the trophy last year, completely dominated Tim Sherwood’s men and were lucky to be just one goal behind, after Theo Walcott smashed in an Alexis Sanchez knockdown.

However, Arsene Wenger’s men turned on the style in the second half. Sanchez produced a stunning effort from over 25 yards to double their advantage, before Per Mertesacker headed in to make it 3-0.

Olivier Giroud, who was left out of the starting 11, still had time to grab a fourth goal, after connecting with Alex OXlade-Chamberlain’s cross.

“We have shown that we are a real team and can deal with pressure. I congratulate the players, the staff and the fans. We are so happy tonight,” Wenger said.

“I had a difficult week to pick the team. But when confidence and sprit is so good it helps. Look, I am very proud. Our club is doing well and if I can personally do well then it’s even better.

“I have two more years of my contract and my hunger is great. I want to do well”.
