Arsenal have confirmed that a fan has been arrested, for allegedly throwing red wine in the direction of Manchester United’s bench, after Kieran Gibbs deflected Antonio Valencia’s effort to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Wayne Rooney doubled United’s lead later in the second half, before Olivier Giroud pulled a goal back in injury time. The win moved Louis van Gaal’s men back into the top four.
“A male was arrested at the stadium for throwing an object towards the Manchester United bench after the first Manchester United goal,” an Arsenal spokesman said.
“There will be full co-operation between Arsenal and the Met Police – we do not tolerate anti-social behaviour. If found guilty, individual will also be banned by club.”
