Arsenal deny Alexis Sanchez has handed in transfer request

Arsenal have denied rumours that Alexis Sanchez has submitted a transfer request, according to Sky Sports News.

Sanchez has less than 11 months remaining on his current contract and is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

The Chile striker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, but manager Arsene Wenger wants to keep the player and is hopeful he will agree an extension.

Sanchez made his first appearance of the new Premier League season, in their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, having been given extra time off in the summer after playing at this year’s Confederations Cup in Russia.

During the competition in Russia, Sanchez was asked whether he would remain at Arsenal beyond this summer’s window and replied: “I don’t know.”
