Arsenal have announced that striker Danny Welbeck, has undergone surgery on his right knee.
Specialists advised the England international to have the surgery, after scans and tests showed significant cartilage damage.
The 25-year-old is now expected to miss the next nine months, automatically ruling him out of the European Championships in France this June and most of next season.
Welbeck only returned to action in February, after injuring his left knee in May last year and scored five times.
