Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour, has admitted that the time may have come for the club to look for Arsene Wenger’s replacement.

The Gunners recovered from a 2-1 loss to Manchester United last weekend, to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at the Emirates and seal their qualification into the Champions League knock-out stages.

Before then, there were increasing calls for Wenger to step aside and major shareholder Alisher Usmanov stated that the Frenchman must accept his mistakes and strengthen his team in all areas. But Parlour believes that Wenger will never get sacked, but will choose when to leave.

“As long as the club have a plan [for a new manager], I am okay with it,” he wrote on Sportlobster.

“If it is better for the club, you do what is right for the club. Nobody is bigger than Arsenal.

“I am biased towards Wenger because I played under him, but his methods now are exactly what we did.

“If the plan is for fresh ideas and the right person becomes available, then it is something to look at. But it is Arsene’s decision. He’d never be sacked.”
