Arsenal announces Lichtsteiner as Unai Emery’s first signing

Arsenal football club have confirmed that defender, Stephan Lichtsteiner has joined the club on a free transfer from Juventus.

Lichtsteiner made 257 appearances for Juve since his debut back in 2011.

The Switzerland international came to the end of his contract in Turin this summer.

The 34-year-old jetted into England last week to visit Arsenal’s London Colney training complex and held positive talks over a free transfer to the Emirates.

Speaking about his first signing at Arsenal, the Gunners boss, Unai Emery told the club’s official website: “Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to our squad.

“He’s a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude.

“Stephan will improve us on and off the pitch.”
