Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council of FCT, has said any party agent or politician found buying Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, from registered voters in the area should be apprehended by security personnel.
The council boss disclosed this during a parley with pressmen after a security meeting in his office. He lamented that some politicians go about buying peoples PVCs for a token.
The meeting had in attendance the military, police, Civil Defence Corps and the Immigration.
According to Giri, information reaching him shows that some party agents, in the past few weeks, have being going from house to house paying and collecting peoples’ voter cards.
Giri said, “The issue of this buying of PVCs by some party agents and politicians is among the issues discussed at the security meeting. Because I received similar report from Tungan-Maje and Zuba, and I directed all the security agents to arrest anybody found trying to buy voters cards from the people, irrespective of the political party such person belongs to.”
He urged all registered voters in the council area to safeguard their PVCs, adding that people of the area should be careful as some desperate politicians would come around this period with money to lure them into selling their cards.
