Tragedy was averted Wednesday night after three female teenage suicide bombers attempted to attack military outpost, popularly known as “Gontanamo” along Muna in Borno State.
They were, however, gunned down before they could gain access to the premises.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident happened at about 10pm on Wednesday.
Abdulkadir ibrahim, the Information officer National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA North East, who confirmed this to DAILY POST, said a soldier sustained injury during the foiled attack.
He said in a terse statement forwarded to DAILY POST that, “Though they were sighted trying to gain access to the premises and were shot by the securities leading to the detonation of their concealed explosives, which killed all three of them and injured one of the security personnel.”
The NEMA officer added that the corpses were evacuated to Borno State Specialist Hospital by NEMA/BOSEMA Emergency Response teams.
Just two days ago, the Nigerian Air Force Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE announced that it conducted an air interdiction mission on some remnants of the Boko Haram Terrorists in a village 3.42 km Northeast of Mangosum at the weekend.
