Army declares three suspected cattle rustlers wanted for murder in Jos


Operation Safe Haven, OPSH, deployed to maintain law and order in Jos, the Plateau state capital has declared three persons wanted over alleged murder and cattle rustling.

A statement signed by its spokesman, Captain Iweha Ikedichi on Saturday said the armed men attacked and killed one Adamu Yusuf, a herds boy while he was rearing his animals in the general area of Sagas Boto in Langai district of Mangu Local Government Council‎ of the state.

The statement reads “All 32 cows and 22 sheep which were being herded were rustled by the attackers into Fan district of Barkin ladi Local Government Council .

“So far, 19 cows and 22 sheep have been recovered in addition to the arrest of Six (6) members of the syndicate.

“Three other suspects remain at large while effort continues to recover the balance of the rustled cows”.

The statement also added that “It is against this backdrop that OPSH declares the 3 persons wanted. Their names are Yohana Pam, Illiya Danladi and “Alonso” (Not his real name as his real name is yet to be ascertained).

“The arrest of these three will not only allow for the handover and prosecution of the suspects but will rid the society of criminal elements whose action if not exposed, perpetuates the crisis on the Plateau with the attendant loss of lives, especially of women and children.

“Anyone with useful information which could lead to the arrest of the suspects and any known persons with criminal inclination is please requested to come forward with such information to the Headquarters of Operation Safe Haven or any of its sector headquarters, especially at Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South Local Government Councils.‎ Information could also be passed to sister security agencies .

“The Task Force reiterates its readiness to respond to any act of criminality and all forms of threat reported to it promptly and assure residents within its area of operational responsibility of their safety. It, however, solicits for information from members of the community in the discharge of their responsibility and assure that any such information provided would be treated with absolute confidentiality “.
