Army Chief, Buratai loses father in Maiduguri

Malam Yusufu Buratai, the father of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, passed away Friday morning at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

According to a close relative, the deceased has been hospitalized for close to a week for a kidney-related illness.

He had a successful surgery in the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, but gave up thereafter.

Late Yusufu left behind 14 children, including the army chief.

He was also a military personnel, having been a non-commissioned officer in the West African Frontier Force.

There is, however, no official confirmation from the Nigerian Army or the family of the deceased yet.
