The Abuja division of the Appeal Court on Monday declined the application by the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh to stop his trial at the Federal High Court.
Metuh had through his lawyer, Onyechi Ikeazu, informed the Appeal Court of a pending application seeking to stop his trial at the Abuja Federal High Court where he is standing trial for money laundering and allegedly receiving the sum of N400m from the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki(rtd).
But Justice Abdul Aboki declined, saying it is not the practice of the court to stop the proceedings of a lower court while hearing a pending appeal.
“The practice before us here is not to stay proceedings at the lower court. Pursue your appeal and go a face your case at the lower court,” the judge said.
