An indigene of Tuomo community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Ebi Tamaraki on Tuesday handed over four AK 47 rifles discovered on top of his roof to the Joint Military Taskforce (JTF) in the area.
Family members who did not want their names in the print told DAILY POST that the whistleblower had visited his wife in another quarter of the community in the early hours when his children told him about the shady deal.
It was gathered that four unidentified men had visited the house of the whistleblower and allegedly dumped a sack bag containing AK 47 riffles on the ceiling; the children consequently reported to their father on his arrival to the house.
Accordingly, curious to know who they are, and the content of the bag, he was said to have climbed up to the ceiling where he discovered the bag and was shocked to see four AK 47 rifles in it.
It was as a result of this their reaction that they were identified but they immediately fled the community and in the process, some of the youths in the community alleged to have been cult members were arrested, and taken to Bomadi command of the JTF.
But officials of the JTF who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said the suspects were being detained for further investigation.
However, the JTF command has begun stop and search operation on vehicles as at the time of filing this report.
Speaking to journalists in Asaba, the Police Commissioner in the State, Mustapha Muhammed confirmed that the arrested suspects were being detained for further investigation, adding that the stop and search were to uncover many of the hidden arms within the community and others.
He said that the police will stop at nothing to bring to book those behind arms supply in the area.
