Armed Forces Remembrance: Make Nigerians see you as friends – Reps Obasa tells Military

As the nation marks this year’s Armed Forces and Remembrance Day, the lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber, Hon. Tajudeen Obasa has urged the Military to act in ways that would endear them to Nigerians.

He similarly called on members of the public to imbibe the culture of extending unwavering support to the security agencies.

In a congratulatory message signed by his media aide, Mr Opeyemi Ahmed, the lawmaker charged military personnel to use the occasion to re-dedicate themselves in the ongoing fight against terrorism and also continue to display highest level of professionalism in their approach to civil issues.

“As a nation, it is high time we began celebrating our fallen heroes and taking appropriate care of those alive.

“Appreciation of the military men who fought to defend the green, white, green in the past will be a great boost of encouragement for those serving presently.

“It will send a message across board that fighting for Nigeria is a mission that must be done with all sincerity and commitments.”

Obasa further charged those saddled with the responsibilities of rewarding living heroes in the military to do more than enough to stop the recurring protest by the aged.

The Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration is an annual event organized to honour members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who fought in the first and second World Wars, and those who served or are still serving in various peace support operations worldwide, as well as those who fought in the Nigerian civil war.

The Day also celebrates both the dead and surviving heroes, including all those who suffered various deprivations as a result of wars.
