The state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola disclosed this in Ede on Friday while unveiling the unified uniforms.
Aregbesola hinted that his administration had spent about N2.6 billion on education in the past two years, excluding salaries and emolument of teachers in the state, emphasizing that the distribution of the unified school uniforms to the pupils had vindicated his administration on his promise for efficient and better service delivery.
DailyPost gathered that every student in the elementary, middle and high schools would be given 2 pairs of uniform each.
It was also gathered that the uniforms were designed in three different types according to the school structures, ranging from elementary, middle and high schools.
Aregbesola further explained that about 800 million had been spent on the school uniforms while over N1.8 billion was also spent on school feeding programme tagged “O-Meal” for pupils in primary 1- 4 and payment of examination fees.
He however noted that despite Osun state being ranked 34th on the Federal government allocation table, it remains the biggest financier on education in the country.
Aregbesola affirmed that the first set of uniforms would be given free of charge to public pupils all over the state, he hinted that those who might need a replacement would buy at a highly subsidized rate.
He assured residents of the state that the distribution of the free uniforms and Health Education textbooks is just a tip of the iceberg compared with the dividends of democracy his administration has in store for Osun people.
