April 11: Intense security cover for Rivers as Police redeploys DIGs, AIGs

In addition to the deployment of six Deputy Inspector-General of Police to coordinate Police activities in the six geo-political zones, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba has deployed Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to supervise the April 11th 2015 gubernatorial elections in the following states.

The breakdown is as follows:

Similarly, some Commissioners of Police were deployed for election duties to states indicated as follows;

1. Anambra State – CP Sam Okaula

2. Ekiti State – CP E. J. Ibine

3. Enugu State – CP Adamu Mohammed

4. Osun State – CP Valentine Ntomchukwu

Also, the IGP has deployed a Commissioner of Police to command each of the Senatorial Zones of the following States; Gombe, Bauchi, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Benue, Edo, Plateau and Sokoto. For Rivers State, the following Special Units of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed to address security concerns.

These are; 32 Units of Police Mobile Force (PMF), 4 Units of Counter terrorism Units (CTU), 4 Units of Special Protection Units (SPU) and 6 Crack Teams of Detectives from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and complements of Intelligence officers.
