The defeated Rivers APC Governorship Candidate, Mr Dakuku Peterside has a penchant for speaking from both sides of his mouth. This is one of the principal reasons why the people of Rivers State overwhelmingly voted for Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (CON), Rivers State Governor-Elect.
After claiming that elections never took place in Rivers State and stating same in his fabricated petition to INEC, Mr Peterside has made a u-turn to claim that he plans to reclaim a non-existent mandate.
Mr. Dakuku’s u-turn is not unconnected to the public declaration by INEC National Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega that Rivers APC and her governorship candidate lied in their petition to the commission. Professor Jega stated on Tuesday in very clear language that Rivers State governorship election held in line with the electoral law and that detailed investigations by three national commissioners proved that there were no irregularities to warrant any cancellation as Mr Peterside requested.
Professor Jega told Civil Society Situation Room on Tuesday: “In Rivers, there were allegations of substitution of results. We investigated but there was no evidence to warrant a cancellation. There were also allegations that no election took place, which we investigated and saw was not true.”
Professor Jega’s position is tandem with the voting pattern of Rivers people on April 11, 2015. Mr Dakuku and his campaign organization should continue to deceive themselves. Their plot to commit mandate robbery will fail the same way they were defeated at the polls.
Dakuku failed to campaign. He took Rivers people for granted because his failed godfather gave him false hope. He, therefore, lived in a world of deception if he ever imagined that he would have won the April 11 governorship election.
A man who thrives in double-speak lacks the moral premise to lead Rivers State. Rivers State needs to recover from years of double-speak, corruption, propaganda and failed governance. That is the fundamental reason why all Rivers people voted for Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (CON) to create a New Rivers State where the resources of the state will be deployed to the benefit of her people.
Dakuku ought to have recovered from the reality of the choice of Rivers people. Once again, we advise the defeated Rivers State APC Governorship Candidate to accept Barrister Wike’s offer and join in the move to revive the state. Eight other governorship candidates have accepted this offer and they are committed to the redemption of Rivers State.
