A group, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, has called on the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, to only appoint credible Nigerians with integrity into his cabinet, agencies, commissions and boards in order to ensure good governance.
In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of CEPEJ, Sheriff Mulade, the group said: “We charge the incoming government not to betray the confidence that Nigerians reposed in the president-elect by appointing politicians without questionable character and corruptible minds that could stall the change which Nigerians clamoured for.
“We urge the president-elect to shun and beware of politicians who are being probed by anti-graft agencies such as Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC. We also want the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government to fulfill its promises made during the electioneering campaigns, towards eradicating corruption from all sectors of the nation’s economy beginning with the cabinet members.
“We urge the president-elect to be father to all, irrespective of religious, ethnic and regional differences and express love and care to all Nigerians. All political parties, corporate and professional bodies must work with the president-elect to fast track the change needed in the Nigerian economy.”
