Appeal court verdict: We must not continue in court – Aliyu advises Makarfi

Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, said yesterday that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, must seek ways of settling their matter out of court.

He said it was better for the party to avoid further litigations.

Aliyu was addressing journalists yesterday shortly after he accompanied the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to see former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida in Minna.

He said, “In fact, political issues are not supposed to be solved legally normally.

“We should have found a political solution to all the problems we have had.

“There are many Nigerians who have been making this effort to have reached a political solution.”

According to the former Governor, after the last Friday’s Appeal court ruling, many members of the party were of the view that the search for political solution should be widened instead of going further with the case.

He further called on the Makarfi-led faction not to go ahead with the plan to appeal the ruling of the Appeal Court.

He urged “members to bury their personal ambitions to be able to reorganise the PDP into a formidable opposition.”
