Apo six: Why we are not excited with judgement – MASSOB

The Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said it is not excited with the judgment passed‎ on the culprits of ‘Apo six’ tragedy of 2005, because the justice was delayed.

It could be recalled that Justice Ishaq Bello of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court delivered judgment on the alleged extra judicial killing of six spare parts traders at Apo area of Abuja by six police officers in 2005.

In a statement signed and issued by MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, the group wondered if the judgement was meant to re-open the wounds on the hearts of the families of the deceased youths after forgetting the heinous crime for many years.

MASSOB, however, expressed confidence that the court which saw reason to commute the sentences would also see reason to set free from detention, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, and other pro-Biafra detainees.

The statement reads in part: “MASSOB is not excited over the outcome of the judgement. Though we don’t wish the court to set the accused free, but this justice has been delayed and denied for several years.

“What is the significance of this judgement? Is it for celebration or to remind the families of the gruesome murder of their loved ones whose death has been mourned and forgotten years ago?

“The court that saw the truth and executed justice on this matter, though with delayed tactics, will also see the same reason in Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafra detainees’ cases and release them.”
