APGA will reclaim its stolen mandate in Abia – Onuoha Bourdex

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) candidate for Abia North senatorial seat in the March 28, 2015 election, Dr. David Onuoha-Bourdex, has expressed optimism that the Abia State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Umuahia would restore his mandate and that of other APGA candidates.

Onuoha-Bourdex, who spoke to reporters in Enugu, said Nigerians were watching to see how far the tribunal could remedy the widespread irregularities and monumental rape of electoral processes during the election in Abia State.

He maintained that proceedings at the tribunal and the judges’ ruling on the several petitions before them would reveal how far the operational strategies of INEC, especially the technological innovation of the PVCs and card readers can check electoral fraud.

The Senatorial candidate declared that voters in Abia State, especially from his Abia North Senatorial district, voted for APGA candidates.

He pointed out that the people are also eager to see how the electoral panel would detect the massive mutilation of results that denied APGA victory.

Explaining how he won the March 28, 2015 senatorial election, Onuoha-Bourdex, said reports from his field agents and testimony from voters after the election results were announced at the polling convinced him that he won the election even as he expressed optimism that the tribunal would restore his mandate.

“We intend to prove at the tribunal how far intimidation, inducement and ballot swapping affected the outcome of the election,” he stated, adding that human element reduced the effectiveness of the PVCs and Card readers to check the subversion of the voters preferred choices during the election.

He said that despite the rigging that characterized the election in Abia State, it has dawned on PDP that imposition of candidates is no longer acceptable to voters, pointing out that popular candidates that were denied tickets defected to APGA and mobilized the voters effectively to win the election.

“Even before the election, the good people of Abia knew that APGA would win the election fair and square. In Abia North, the APGA candidate for the Senatorial district beat other candidates to represent the zone in the Senate for the 8th National Assembly”, Onuoha-Bourdex declared.
