The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has denounced Chief Matin Agbaso as its national chairman.
Instead, it endorsed Chief Ozor Victor Oye who according to the party was elected through democratic process in a convention that was duly supervised by INEC.
Kogi State chairman of APGA, Honorable Abdulazeez Arikora, who spoke to newsmen in Lokoja, said the Agbaso they knew was a PDP governorship aspirant in Imo State in 2015, where he scored one vote losing in that election to Emeka Ihedioha, former deputy speaker of the House of representatives.
He was speaking against the background of the crisis within the party, including the recent court order of mandamus by an Enugu High Court under Justice J. B Ozoemena, which removed Ozor Victor Oye, as the National Chairman of the party.
The party has been entangled in a leadership tussle amidst stiff opposition from other parties which are planning to snatch its only fortune of Anambra in the forthcoming election.
The chairman expressed disappointment with the judgement, which he described as political in view of the forthcoming Anambra Governorship election.
According to him, “If Agbaso is bent on becoming a member of APGA he should go through his ward and let his ward chairman recognize him and get his membership card.”
Arikora also challenged security agents to carry out proper investigation on the recent barbaric act whereby Chief Agbaso allegedly broke into the party’s national secretariat to vandalize its documents.
“For us in Kogi, it is a criminal act for him to break into our national secretariat and vandalize all the documents and cart away the cash meant for our primary election.
“We urge the security agents to live up to their bidding and prosecute him because the act is criminal and barbaric.”
On the Anambra election he urged the people to go all out to vote for Governor Willie Obiano who has performed creditably well.
“He is not owing workers salary; in security and agriculture he has done marvelously well.
“Therefore, the people of Anambra State should come out enmass to cast their votes for Obiano in the forthcoming governorship election on the 18th November, 2017.”
